A Unique Technical and Design Challenge for the Langhirano Street Viaduct.

The construction of the viaduct on the Via Langhirano traffic circle posed a significant challenge both technically and organizationally. The strategic location of the construction site, located on a high-traffic road, required detailed planning to ensure viability during all phases of the work. The work, designed by Prof. Martinez y Cabrerà, features a curved viaduct, cast in place without intermediate joints, an element that highlights its structural innovation and technical complexity. The construction was made possible thanks to the expertise of the site personnel, the constant supervision of the construction management, and the ability of the client to address any problems in a timely manner. A perfect example of collaboration and professionalism.

Innovation and Sustainability in the Construction of the Via Langhirano Viaduct.

The Via Langhirano viaduct is part of a 2,200-meter-long project to strategically connect Parma's east and south roads, built in three functional sections. The work includes the four-span curved viaduct on the traffic circle, a 130-meter cable-stayed bridge over the Parma stream, and an artificial tunnel, with road reprofiling and junction creation. During the work, traffic flow was ensured through temporary traffic circles and detailed planning.

The construction faced complex technical challenges, such as the geometric accuracy of the caisson deck and continuous topographic monitoring of the supporting structures. In addition, innovative and sustainable materials were used, including sound-absorbing asphalt mixes and photocatalytic paints, which ensured low environmental impact and excellent landscape integration for a work of great engineering value.
